Connect YouTube

HIVE connects to your YouTube channel so you can publish videos, keep up with comments, and see how your channel is performing - alongside your other platforms.

To connect YouTube to HIVE, both of these must be true:

  1. You have a YouTube channel. A Google account on its own isn’t enough - posting, comments, and analytics all work at the channel level.
  2. You can sign in with the Google account that owns or manages the channel. If your channel is managed through a Brand Account, you’ll choose that account when Google asks.

Need a channel first? See Create a YouTube channel.

  1. Open your profile menu (top-right) and choose Connect Platforms.

  2. Find the YouTube card and select the + button in its corner.

  3. A window opens on Google. Choose the Google account that manages your channel - if your channel uses a Brand Account, choose that account.

  4. Approve the access HIVE asks for.

  5. You’re brought back to HIVE, and your channel shows as connected.

  • You sign in with Google. The sign-in screen and the screen listing HIVE’s access are Google’s own - HIVE never sees or stores your Google password.
  • You approve what HIVE can do - publish videos, read and reply to comments, and see your channel’s analytics.
  • If your Google account manages more than one channel (for example through Brand Accounts), choose the right one in Google’s account picker.
  • Disconnect: on the Connect Platforms page, select your connected channel, choose Disconnect Account, and confirm. For YouTube, this permanently removes the channel’s analytics and statistics from HIVE, deletes the access credentials HIVE has stored for the channel, and unlinks your past posts from the channel. Your past posts stay in your archive. This can’t be undone. (Admins only.)
  • Remove HIVE’s access at Google: disconnecting in HIVE doesn’t withdraw the access you authorised on your Google Account - HIVE can no longer use it, but Google still lists HIVE. To withdraw it, remove HIVE on your Google Account permissions page. Bear in mind that this ends every HIVE connection using that Google account, including Google Analytics, so remove it only when you want them all gone.
  • Reconnect or refresh: connect again with the + button, or use Re-authenticate Account on the connected channel to refresh its access.
