Connect Facebook

HIVE connects to your Facebook Pages - the Pages you manage, not your personal profile. You can connect more than one.

Page statistics aren't available yet

Facebook requires a separate permission to read Page statistics, and HIVE’s access to it is still being reviewed by Facebook. Until it’s granted, your Facebook reach and engagement figures stay empty in Analytics. Publishing, comments, the inbox, and your follower count all work as described here. See Analytics.

Before you start: what you need

To connect a Facebook Page to HIVE, both of these must be true:

1. You have a Facebook Page. HIVE manages Pages, not personal profiles or timelines.
2. You have a Page role that can publish to it - Full Control or Partial Control in Facebook’s current access model (formerly called an Admin or Editor role) - and you’ll sign in with that Facebook account.

This is the most common reason a connection fails

If the Facebook account you sign in with doesn’t manage any Pages, the connection stops and you’ll see: “No Facebook Pages found. HIVE manages Pages only - please connect a Facebook account that has admin access to at least one Page.” (Facebook now calls this access Full or Partial Control.)

You also need to be a HIVE admin

Only HIVE admins can connect a platform. If you don’t see a + button on the Facebook card, you’re not an admin - ask one of your admins to connect it (you can find them in Settings → Team & Roles).

Connect Facebook, step by step

1. Open your profile menu (top-right) and choose Connect Platforms.

2. Find the Facebook card and select the + button in its corner.

3. Read the short “Heads up before connecting” note, then choose Continue to Meta.

4. A window opens on Facebook. Sign in, approve the access HIVE asks for, and choose the Page(s) to grant.

5. Back in HIVE, the Select Facebook Pages window appears. Tick the Page(s) you want to connect, then choose Connect.

Your Facebook Page now shows as connected on the Connect Platforms page.

What to expect during connection

• You sign in on Facebook. HIVE never sees or stores your Facebook password.
• You’ll see a permission screen. It lists what HIVE will be able to do - for example, publish posts and read and reply to comments. Approve it to continue.
• You choose your Pages twice. First on Facebook’s screen (which Pages to grant), then in HIVE (which of those to connect to this account).
• Your existing posts come in. Once a Page is connected, HIVE imports the posts already published on it so they sit alongside what you publish through HIVE. See Imported posts.

Leave your Pages ticked on Facebook's screen

On Facebook’s permission screen, keep all Pages ticked. Unticking a Page there removes HIVE’s access to it - which can disconnect it from places it’s already in use. You’ll choose which Pages actually go into HIVE on the next screen, inside HIVE.

If it doesn’t work

Most problems are one of these

• No + button on the Facebook card - you’re signed in to HIVE as a non-admin. Ask an admin to connect it (see Settings → Team & Roles).
• “No Facebook Pages found” - the Facebook account you signed in with doesn’t have a role that can manage the Page. Sign in with an account that does, or get a Page role that can publish to it first (link above).
• Your Page isn’t offered to pick - the Facebook account you signed in with doesn’t have access to that Page. Sign in with the right account, or ask whoever manages the Page to give you access or connect it themselves.
• Publishing fails and Facebook mentions “Publishing Authorization” - a Facebook Page may need to complete Page Publishing Authorization before any tool can post to it. The Page’s admin completes this one-time step on Facebook; see Get authorized to post as your Page.

Disconnect or reconnect

• Disconnect: on the Connect Platforms page, select your connected Facebook Page, choose Disconnect Account, and confirm. It’s removed from HIVE and you can reconnect it later. (Admins only.)
• Reconnect or refresh: connect it again with the + button, or use Re-authenticate Account on the connected Page to refresh its access without removing it.
